1UP Bouldering was a landmark project for Metro Deco, delivered as climbing entered a new era with the sport making its Olympic debut. Spanning more than 1,500m², Metro Deco worked hand in hand with the client to design and construct the facility from the ground up, managing every aspect of the project from initial planning and design development through to procurement, construction and final delivery.
The scale of the project demanded extensive coordination across a truly international supply chain. Specialist matting was sourced from China, climbing walls from Bulgaria, while the remaining elements were fabricated locally. Delivered during COVID lockdowns and amid major global supply chain disruption, including the Suez Canal blockage, careful procurement and programme management were critical to keeping the project moving. Despite these challenges, Metro Deco delivered the facility on programme, showcasing our ability to manage complex commercial projects of any scale, regardless of where specialist materials and equipment need to be sourced.
